Making progress

The game is progressing faster than anticipated. Maps are coming together fast. Even touchups and sizing are working out. Most of the original content has now been patched for the new engine and sized for the 720p resolution. Almost starting new content. Balance will hopefully be less of an issue since I'll be balancing as the content grows.

The city of Arden is coming along nicely. I may release the thief mini game for testing soon. I may need to adjust it's difficulty. Time will tell.

Size Matters

So I recently started working on the game again. I've made the decision to finalize the display in 720p, which is great for the gamers to play this, but also means I'm constantly resizing all my maps. Finished the thief scene with Driller, then the cut scene after. Next is the Town of Arden.

It begins

Set up the basic game structure today, borrowing some database items from Gundrake's Fall.

I thought this made sense as the universe will continue past this game. From a consistency aspect, it was necessary.

I plan to build something into Gundrake's Fall that will remember who you were and what you accomplished in the Garnag Tower (if you played it), and integrate those points into the story.

Garnag Tower is planned to be a cursed tower with magical properties allowing for different scenes per floor to explore.

Classes

What classes should this 'dungeon only' game have? With the idea of limited skill uses, I'm not sure a Mage would be viable for instance.

What do you think?

Garnag Tower

I was thinking of putting Gundrake's Fall on hold temporarily to build a smaller game still in the LOTDP universe. Garnag tower was originally a dungeon located north of Loazen. I'm thinking of designing a much smaller game to release to the public to get the company's (and the universe's) name out there. I feel like it would take me a lot less time to develop this game as well as still being able to flush out some of the universe's story.

The hook for the smaller game is it would be designed with skill and item limitations with the objective of reaching the top of the tower to defeat Warthrow.

More to come about this new direction soon.

Special

So I speaking of Fallout's perk system, what if the player had the choice of specific perks based on their class? Or is it better to have universal perks that are generalized?

I really don't know, but I really like the idea.

Perk system?

Hi all,

Since the game is still in very early stages, it gives me the opportunity to continually evaluate and reevaluate the game's core systems. As some of you know, I am a huge Fallout fan.  I think my favourite portion of the character control is the Perk system that works in conjunction with their SPECIAL system. The way lotdp is laid out currently is you are given a few questions at the beginning and based on your answers, the game creates your character. As unique as this system is, I feel as though it is very 'closed' system not allowing for much change or rebuild.

I may encompass a special type system in the future.
